COMMUNITY SUPPORT AGRICULTURE (CSA)
WHAT IS A CSA?
Deep red, juicy, tomatoes, fresh-picked, unforgettable strawberries, crunchy, crispy greens. The best way to enjoy healthy food is to buy the highest quality, freshest picked and most locally produced ingredients. And the best way to get them is through our weekly CSA program.
CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture,” and has been a way for farmers to sell directly to their immediate community, for over 25 years. Basically, you the consumer, buy “shares” in the farm’s crops. In return for your “share”, or membership, you receive a box of all-natural, 100% local, seasonal produce.
The regular box feeds a family of 2-3 depending on how many vegetables you eat. Members can choose to pick up their boxes at either the Farm or Whole Foods (Laskin Road) each week.
You’ll also have the satisfaction of knowing that your CSA membership has helped the farm at the beginning of the growing season, when cash is typically scarce—enabling us to buy seed, pay workers and plan a successful season. In fact, it’s safe to say CSAs are critical to building a sustainable economic ecosystem for small organic farms. That’s not just good for the local economy, it’s good for the planet too.
